Covering up to 1990 sq km Udzungwa National Park contains the greatest altitudinal range of forests in East Africa. The national park is the only place in East Africa with unbroken forest cover from lowland forest communities at below 250m above sea level. Udzungwa national park is bordered by the Great Ruaha River to the north, Mikumi National Park and Selous Game Reserve located further to the north and east.

The national park is a great source of water for a large number of endemic species of both animals and plants. The park is home to number of primates out of which colobus and Sanje Crested Mangabey are the rarest which can be spotted only in Udzungwa National Park.

• Udzungwa Mountains National Park is a national park in Tanzania covering up an area of 1,990 km2.
• The Udzungwa Mountains are part of the Eastern Arc Mountains which is believed to be formed around approximately 200 million years ago.
• There are 400 bird species, 2500 plant species spotted in the national park along with 6 species of primates.
• The Udzungwa National Park has no roads and only can be covered by hiking and trekking.
• The most common walk is the Sanje Waterfalls trail which takes around 4 hours to complete the trek .
• The trail allows the travelers access to the stunning 170 m waterfall and offers swimming in the waterfall as part of the activity.
