Overview

Tanzania is a multilingual country where around 126 languages are spoken around the country; however, no one language is spoken natively by a majority or a large population. The Bantu, Swahili language and English are widely spoken around the country. Swahili is declared as the national language by the Govt. of Tanzania in 2015. Apart from Swahili and English, there are various languages spoken by the ethnic tribe groups as their mother tongues within their own community.Out of the 126 languages that are spoken in Tanzania 58 languages are vigorously spoken around the country, 18 are still developing and some are losing its identity.  However, even having so diversified languages most of the citizens spoke English well, so the tourists don’t face problems due to the language problem.
