The Marangu Route, often called the “Coca-Cola” route, is known for its scenic beauty and well-established trekking path. As the oldest route on Mount Kilimanjaro, it is also the only one offering dormitory-style hut accommodations. Trekkers can stay in Mandara and Kibo Huts, each providing 60 bunk beds, while Horombo Huts offer 120 bunk beds with mattresses and pillows for added comfort.

After breakfast depart for Kilimanjaro National Park gate at Marangu
Start the first section of the climb through the mountain forest to Mandara Hut at 9000ft/ 2750m. Ascend for about 3 to 4 hours.

After breakfast, leave the forest behind and trek along a well-defined path through open grassy moorland. The journey to Horombo Hut (12,000 ft / 3,700 m) takes 5 to 7 hours, with a picnic lunch along the way to recharge.

Continue ascending past the last water point traversing the saddle between Kibo and Mawenzi to Kibo Hut at 15000ft/4700m. Walking takes approximately 5 to 7 hours.

Start the final ascent before dawn, navigating steep and heavy scree to reach Gilman’s Point (18,640 ft / 5,681 m) just in time to witness the sunrise from the crater rim.
From there, push forward to Uhuru Peak (19,340 ft / 5,896 m)—the highest point in Africa, where breathtaking panoramic views await.
After taking in the summit experience, begin the descent to Horombo Hut, with the journey requiring approximately 7 to 8 hours uphill and 4 to 7 hours downhill for an overnight rest.

After breakfast, begin the descent to the park gate, a journey that takes approximately 5 to 7 hours.
Upon arrival, you’ll be met by your driver-guide and transferred to Mountain Inn for a well-earned dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, transfer to Kilimanjaro Airport for your onward flight, concluding your journey.
