Tarangire Uniqueness

Overview

Tarangire National Park is said to be the hidden gem of Tanzania. The name was derived from the Tarangire River that crosses the park which is a primary source of freshwater for the animals residing in the region.

Diverse Wildlife :

The national park is home to the iconic animals of Tanzania like black rhinoceros, dik-dik, African elephants and giraffes.

Largest Elephant herds :

The park is claimed as the region that holds the largest elephant population in Tanzania. In the dry season herds, up to 300 elephants can be seen digging dry riverbed.

Migration :

Between June to November every year Tarangire National Park becomes the address for the legendary Wildebeest Migration.

Swamps :

Tarangire's swamp network that is residing in the eastern and southern regions of the park are the vital water source for the park's elephants, cape buffalo, and more than 500 species of bird.

Bird safari :

Exceeding 550 numbers of birds’ species Tarangire National Park is the highest number on all of Tanzania which makes it the best place for bird lovers.

The Baobab Tree :

Living up to 600 years, these venerable trees are spotted in Tarangire National Park. Known as the Tree of Life, the baobab tree can store anywhere between 300 and 1000 liters of water within its bloated trunk.
