Overview

The Ngorongoro Conservation Area has located 180 km (110 mi) west of Arusha in the Crater Highlands area of Tanzania. The area is named after the world’s largest unbroken volcanic caldera and the Ngorongoro Conservation Area is a world heritage site of UNSECO since 1979.The key feature of the conservation area is the volcanic Carter which was formed when a large volcano exploded and collapsed on itself two to three million years ago. Covering up the area of 260 square kilometers crater was voted by Seven Natural Wonders of Africa in 2013. Approximately 40,000 people live in the conservation are interestingly sharing the land with 30,000 animals ranging from leopard, cheetah, elephant, and hyena to warthog, buffalo, and impala.The land has welcomed many famous personalities including Prince William, Bill Clinton and the Queen of Denmark. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area receives approximately 60% of the tourists out of 770,000 who travel to Tanzania each year.The carter has acquired the title of “the Garden of Eden” due to its mesmerizing landscape and numerous animals.
