  • Stretching within 2 within two districts namely the Same and Lushoto the Mkmazi National Park is set underneath the outmode Eastern Arc Mountain degrees of Usambara and Pare.

  • The national park was formerly a game reserve that upgraded into a ‘National Park’ status in 2008.

  • The Park covers 3245 square kilometers.

  • The name of the park is derived from two words Mko & Mazi which originally means a scoop of water.

  • The national park hosts more than 450 Species of birds, including the Tawny Eagles, Go away birds, Ostriches, Parrots, Pelicans, Cormorants, Flamingos, Kingfishers, Plovers, Ducks, Hoopoes, and more other species.

  • The best time to visit the park is between June to January.
