Overview

Climbing Kilimanjaro is a unique experience, largely due to its vast geography and ever-changing weather. The mountain’s massive structure creates its own climate, and trekkers journey through five distinct climate zones:

- Bushland/Cultivated Zone (2,600–6,000 ft): Characterized by open plains, farmland, and lowland forests.

- Rainforest Zone (6,000–9,200 ft): Home to dense forests with limited wildlife sightings.

- Heath/Moorland Zone (9,200–13,200 ft): Marked by heath-like vegetation and vibrant wildflowers.

- Alpine Desert Zone (13,200–16,500 ft): A rocky, barren landscape with scarce vegetation and water sources.

- Arctic Zone (Above 16,500 ft): A snow-covered expanse with freezing temperatures.

Weather: Kilimanjaro experiences two main seasons—wet and dry. The dry season is the most favorable for climbing, as conditions are more stable and trails are easier to navigate.
