Overview

The number of climbers on Kilimanjaro depends on the trekking route and weather conditions. Situated near the equator, the mountain experiences two seasons: a wet season and a dry season. Since trekking is more challenging during the wet season, most climbers opt for the dry season, leading to higher crowds.

Each year, approximately 30,000 people attempt to climb Kilimanjaro, with around 50% successfully reaching the summit. During the dry months—January to March and June to October—the Marangu and Machame routes tend to be the busiest.
